At KLPC we are particularly interested in treating spinal pain. Three of our staff are members of the MACP, (Manipulative Association of Chartered Physiotherapists) where membership is only gained by successful completion of a postgraduate manipulation course and examination. By allowing up to one hour for patients'
first attendance, we are able to thoroughly assess The spine is very complex; spinal pain can be as a result of many causes and the symptoms be very varied, ranging from severe back or neck pain to sciatica, arm pain, pins and needles and general muscular aches. Some of our treatment includes exercises, stretching, postural advice, traction, manipulation, massage, ultrasound (long wave and short wave), acupuncture, pulsed short wave, TNS, interferential, laser and advice on posture and lifestyle adjustments. Acupuncture is now widely used and is medically accepted to be a safe and effective method of pain relief. At KLPC we are fortunate to have five physiotherapists who are members of the 'Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists' (AACP), which means that they have completed a recognised postgraduate course in acupuncture. It has been used in China for over 3,000 years as a way of maintaining a healthy body. Very fine needles are inserted into specific acupuncture points to "cure" all manner of problems. We have found it particularly useful for: -
Research has shown that acupuncture causes the release of our own natural pain killing hormones from the brain. Research has also shown that some 70% of people gain pain relief from acupuncture. The needles used are of the highest quality and are pre-sterilised. They are very fine and patients, many of whom have been fearful of needles, often comment that they can hardly feel the needles being inserted. After use, they are placed in a clinical waste bin and disposed of. Acupuncture may be offered to you solely or as part of your programme in conjunction with other treatments. | |||
